Head Librarian


Our library is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Head Librarian to oversee the management and operation of our library in Os, Norway. As the Head Librarian, you will be responsible for the overall strategic direction, administration, and development of our library services. You will also serve as a mentor and leader to our team of librarians and support staff.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement long-term plans to enhance library services, resources, and technology
- Manage the budget for library operations, including purchasing materials and maintaining equipment
- Evaluate and improve existing library policies, procedures, and programs
- Oversee collection development, including selection, acquisition, cataloging, and preservation of materials
- Provide reference services to patrons and assist with research inquiries
- Collaborate with other departments to promote library resources and services within the community
- Supervise staff members, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Stay current with emerging trends in librarianship through professional development opportunities

Requirements:
- Master's degree in Library Science or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years experience working as a librarian
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Knowledge of library management systems
- Familiarity with current technologies used in libraries
- Customer service oriented with excellent communication skills
