Library Assistant

As a Library Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting patrons with their research and providing excellent customer service. Your duties will include organizing and shelving books, maintaining the library's catalog system, and assisting with library events and programs. You will also be responsible for answering patron inquiries, checking materials in and out, and enforcing library policies. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for connecting people with information. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patrons with research inquiries and provide exceptional customer service
- Organize and shelve books according to the Dewey Decimal System
- Maintain accurate records of library materials using the catalog system
- Assist with planning and executing library events and programs
- Answer patron inquiries in person, over the phone, or via email
- Check materials in and out using the circulation system
- Enforce library policies to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all patrons

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Library Science preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in basic computer skills; experience with library systems is an asset
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Passion for connecting people with information
