Contract Librarian (Alta, Norway)
We are currently seeking a Contract Librarian to join our team in Alta, Norway. As a Contract Librarian, you will be responsible for managing and organizing the library's collection, assisting patrons with research and reference inquiries, and promoting library resources and services. This is a contract position with a salary of 900$ per month.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the library's collection by cataloging and classifying materials
- Assist patrons with research and reference inquiries in person or via phone/email
- Promote the use of library resources and services through outreach programs
- Plan and conduct workshops and events to engage the community in using the library
- Keep up-to-date with current trends in librarianship and implement new techniques to improve services
- Maintain accurate records of library transactions and statistics
- Collaborate with other libraries and organizations to share resources and develop partnerships
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Library Director
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Previous experience working in a library or similar environment is preferred but not required
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Customer service oriented with the ability to interact positively with diverse groups of people
- Knowledge of library systems such as cataloging software, databases, and online resources
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
-Familiarity with Norwegian culture and language is preferred but not required
