Job Title: Database Administrator
A database administrator (DBA) is responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of a company's databases. They play a crucial role in managing and organizing large amounts of data to ensure efficient and accurate operation of an organization's systems. As a DBA, you will work closely with other IT professionals to design, develop, and maintain databases that meet the needs of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing and implementing database structures and schemas
- Monitoring database performance and identifying areas for improvement
- Ensuring data security and integrity through regular backups and maintenance
- Troubleshooting issues with database systems and resolving them in a timely manner
- Collaborating with other IT professionals to integrate new applications with existing databases
- Creating reports to track database usage, performance, and capacity
- Providing technical support to users for database related issues
Requirements:
- Proven work experience as a Database Administrator or similar role
- Excellent knowledge of database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL etc.
- Familiarity with programming languages like SQL or Java
- Strong understanding of data backup, recovery, and security protocols
- Ability to troubleshoot issues with databases and perform root cause analysis
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Database Administration (e.g. Microsoft Certified Database Administrator)
- Experience working with cloud-based databases (e.g. AWS RDS)
- Knowledge of data warehousing principles
Location:
This position is based in Greenland but open to candidates from any nationality. Relocation assistance may be provided for non-local candidates.
Salary:
The starting salary for this position is 900$ per month but may vary based on qualifications and experience.
