Preservation Architect
A preservation architect is responsible for the conservation and restoration of historic buildings and structures. They work to protect and preserve these structures for future generations to enjoy. As a preservation architect, you will use your knowledge of historical architecture, building materials, and construction techniques to carefully plan and execute restoration projects. This role requires a deep understanding of the cultural and historical significance of each structure, as well as technical expertise in building materials and methods.
Responsibilities:
- Researching the history and background of buildings or structures under consideration for preservation
- Conducting on-site surveys to assess the condition of a structure and identify potential issues or areas for improvement
- Collaborating with engineers, contractors, and other professionals to develop restoration plans that adhere to strict historical preservation guidelines
- Drafting detailed reports outlining proposed restoration plans, cost estimates, and timelines
- Overseeing the implementation of restoration projects, ensuring that all work is carried out according to approved plans and specifications
- Conducting periodic inspections during construction to ensure compliance with preservation guidelines
- Advising clients on maintenance strategies to preserve the integrity of the restored structure over time
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field; Master's degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years' experience in historic preservation architecture or related field
- Excellent knowledge of historic architecture styles, building materials, and construction techniques
- Strong project management skills with experience in developing and executing restoration plans within budgetary constraints
- Ability to research and analyze historical information from various sources
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, contractors, and other professionals involved in a project
Salary: $1700 per month (negotiable based on experience)
Location: Aalborg (candidate must be able to work legally within Denmark)
This is a full-time position without accommodation provided. Visa sponsorship may be available for international candidates.
