Foreign Language Librarian


We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Foreign Language Librarian to join our library team in Hawalli. As a Foreign Language Librarian, you will be responsible for managing and organizing the collection of foreign language materials, as well as providing reference and research services to library users who require assistance in a language other than English.

Key responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a collection of foreign language materials, including books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, and electronic resources.
- Catalog and classify foreign language materials according to established standards.
- Assist library users with finding and accessing foreign language materials through reference interviews and online searches.
- Create displays and promotions to highlight the library's foreign language collection.
- Collaborate with other librarians to develop programming and events related to foreign languages.
- Stay up-to-date on current trends in foreign language literature, culture, and technology.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field.
- Fluency in one or more foreign languages (e.g. Hindi, Arabic, Spanish).
- Knowledge of cataloging standards for non-English materials.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with non-native speakers.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with electronic resources and databases.
- Experience working as a librarian or in a library setting preferred.

This is a full-time position with a salary of $1800 per month. The position is open to both Indian nationals and foreigners. This is an English-speaking job but proficiency in additional languages is required. This position does not require prior experience but candidates with previous library experience will be given preference.
