Librarian - Cataloguer


Our library in Ajman is seeking a detail-oriented Librarian - Cataloguer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of library cataloging and classification systems, as well as excellent organizational skills. This position is open to Africans and does not require proficiency in English.

Responsibilities:
- Organize and catalog library materials according to established standards
- Create accurate bibliographic records for print and electronic resources
- Maintain the library's cataloging system and ensure its accuracy
- Assist with collection development by identifying materials for acquisition
- Respond to reference inquiries from library patrons
- Provide support for interlibrary loan requests
- Train and supervise library assistants in cataloging procedures

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in a library setting, preferably in cataloging or technical services
- Strong knowledge of library cataloging and classification systems, including Dewey Decimal Classification and MARC standards
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other team members
- Proficiency in using library management software, such as Koha or SirsiDynix

Salary:
The salary for this position is 1500$ per month.

Location:
This position is located in Ajman, UAE. The candidate must be willing to commute to the city for work.

Working Hours:
This is a part-time position with flexible working hours. The schedule will be discussed during the interview process.
