Librarian - Nairobi, Kenya
As a Librarian in Nairobi, Kenya, you will be responsible for managing and organizing the library's collection of books, journals, and other materials. Your main goal will be to provide access to information and resources for students, faculty, and other library users.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the library's collection by selecting, acquiring, cataloging, and classifying materials
- Assist library users in finding and accessing materials
- Provide research assistance to students and faculty
- Create and implement library programs and events
- Train library staff on cataloging systems and procedures
- Maintain the physical space of the library by shelving books, organizing materials, and ensuring a clean environment
- Stay up-to-date with new technologies and resources in the field of librarianship
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field
- Previous experience working in a library setting preferred
- Knowledge of cataloging systems such as Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress classification
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills in English (knowledge of Indian languages is a plus)
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other staff members
Salary:
The salary for this position is 1600$ per month.
