Library Assistant

We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Library Assistant to join our team at our library in Washington. As a Library Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the library, including cataloging and shelving books, helping patrons with research requests, and maintaining an organized and user-friendly environment. This position is suitable for both men and women.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with cataloging and shelving books according to the library's classification system
- Help patrons find materials and assist with research requests
- Maintain an organized and tidy library space
- Process new materials for circulation
- Assist with collection development by recommending new titles or weeding out outdated materials
- Provide basic computer assistance to patrons as needed
- Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure accurate recordkeeping
- Collaborate with other staff members to plan and implement library events or programs
- Handle administrative tasks such as issuing library cards and collecting fines

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred but not required
- Previous experience working in a library setting preferred but not required
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proficient in basic computer skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

Salary: $1700 per month
