Librarian - Collection Development Specialist
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Librarian to join our team in Ar Rumaythiyah. As a Collection Development Specialist, you will be responsible for selecting and acquiring materials for our library collection, ensuring that it meets the needs and interests of our library's users. This role requires strong analytical skills, as well as a deep understanding of the current trends and needs in the field of librarianship. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop strategies for building and maintaining an up-to-date and diverse library collection
- Evaluate potential acquisitions based on relevance, quality, and cost-effectiveness
- Manage budget allocation for collection development
- Maintain relationships with vendors and negotiate favorable terms for purchasing materials
- Collaborate with other library staff to promote library resources and services
- Stay current on industry trends and changes in users' interests to inform collection development decisions
- Conduct regular inventory assessments to ensure accuracy of collection records
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- Minimum of 2 years experience in collection development or acquisitions within a library setting
- Strong knowledge of information resources, publishing trends, and library technology
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proven ability to manage budgets and vendor relationships effectively
- Familiarity with cataloging systems such as Dewey Decimal Classification or Library of Congress Classification
- Passion for promoting literacy and lifelong learning in the community
Preferred Qualifications:
