Contract Interpreter in Funchal, Madeira



We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Interpreter to join our team in Funchal, Madeira on a contract basis. As an Interpreter, you will be responsible for providing accurate and professional interpretation services in various settings.

Responsibilities:
- Act as a communication bridge between individuals who speak different languages
- Listen to, understand and accurately interpret spoken or signed messages
- Provide simultaneous or consecutive interpretation during meetings, conferences, interviews, and other events
- Maintain confidentiality and neutrality in all aspects of work
- Research and familiarize yourself with technical terminology related to the subject matter of interpretation
- Take notes to aid in accurate interpretation
- Assist with translation of written documents as needed

Requirements:
- Proven experience as an interpreter in a professional setting
- Fluency in at least two languages including English and Portuguese (Spanish is a plus)
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong knowledge of cultural differences and ability to adapt accordingly
- Good note-taking skills for consecutive interpretation
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle unexpected situations
- Knowledge of industry-specific terminology
- Valid work permit for Portugal (or eligibility to obtain one)

Salary: 1000$ per month (negotiable based on experience)

This is a contract position with no accommodation provided. However, we do offer free visa sponsorship and travel ticket reimbursement.
