Preservation Architect - Almada, Portugal



We are seeking a skilled and experienced Preservation Architect to join our team in Almada, Portugal. As a Preservation Architect, you will be responsible for preserving and restoring historic buildings and structures while adhering to strict preservation standards and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of historic buildings and structures to determine their condition and necessary preservation measures
- Develop preservation plans and proposals for approval by clients and relevant authorities
- Collaborate with other architects, engineers, and construction workers to oversee the restoration process
- Ensure that all restoration work is carried out in accordance with preservation standards and guidelines
- Monitor the progress of restoration projects, identify any potential issues, and make necessary adjustments
- Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide recommendations for preserving their historic properties
- Conduct research on historical materials, techniques, and methods to inform restoration work
- Keep accurate records of all preservation projects including plans, proposals, progress reports, budgets, and timelines

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in preservation architecture or a similar role
- Extensive knowledge of historical materials, techniques, and methods used in construction
- Familiarity with relevant preservation standards and guidelines such as the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and relevant authorities
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to preserving historic buildings
- Fluent in Portuguese; proficiency in English is preferred but not required
