Contract Database Administrator in Svalbard


We are currently hiring a skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our team in Svalbard on a contract basis. As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining and managing our databases, ensuring their security, integrity, and performance.

Responsibilities:
- Install and configure database software
- Monitor database performance and make necessary adjustments
- Troubleshoot database issues and provide timely resolutions
- Develop backup and recovery plans
- Ensure data security by implementing access controls and encryption techniques
- Collaborate with other team members to design efficient database systems
- Regularly perform data backups and conduct disaster recovery drills

Requirements:
- Proven work experience as a Database Administrator
- Strong knowledge of database management systems, such as MySQL, Oracle, etc.
- Experience in database design and implementation
- Familiarity with data backup, recovery, and security best practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Certification in database administration (e.g. Oracle Certified Professional)

Salary:
We offer a competitive salary of 1300$ per month for this contract position. In addition, we provide accommodation for the duration of the contract.

Location:
This position is based in Svalbard, an archipelago located between Norway and the North Pole. The stunning natural surroundings make it an ideal location for outdoor enthusiasts.

Visa & Travel:
We will provide a free visa for the duration of the contract, as well as cover the cost of your round-trip ticket to Svalbard.
