Entry-Level Typesetter


We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Typesetter to join our publishing team in the beautiful city of Faroe-Islands. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for design and typography to gain hands-on experience in the publishing industry. As an Entry-Level Typesetter, you will be responsible for formatting and laying out text and images to create visually appealing and professional documents such as books, magazines, and advertisements.

Responsibilities:
- Format text and images according to publishing guidelines
- Choose appropriate fonts, sizes, and layouts to enhance readability
- Collaborate with editors, designers, and other team members to ensure high-quality publications
- Review proofs for errors or inconsistencies before final printing
- Use software programs such as Adobe InDesign and QuarkXPress to create digital layouts
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in typesetting technology
- Communicate effectively with team members to meet strict deadlines

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field preferred
- Proficient in using typesetting software such as Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, or Microsoft Publisher
- Basic understanding of typography principles including font pairing, hierarchy, kerning, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills in English (knowledge of Faroese language is a plus)
- Must be able to work full-time (40 hours/week) with flexible schedule if needed
