Skilled Turner in Alta, Norway


We are currently hiring for the position of Skilled Turner in Alta, Norway. As a skilled turner, you will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Your main goal will be to ensure the quality and accuracy of the final product by following blueprints, sketches or specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine machining operations
- Set up and operate various machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses etc.
- Monitor machine operations to detect any problems or malfunctions
- Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
- Inspect finished products for defects or errors and make necessary adjustments
- Maintain equipment by performing regular maintenance tasks
- Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment

Requirements:
- Proven experience as a skilled turner or similar role
- Proficient in reading technical drawings and interpreting specifications
- Strong understanding of machining principles and techniques
- Ability to operate a variety of machine tools with high precision
- Solid knowledge of cutting tools, measuring instruments, and other equipment used in the machining process
- Attention to detail with excellent manual dexterity
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials when necessary
- Degree or certificate in mechanical engineering or relevant field is preferred
