Typesetter
We are searching for a skilled Typesetter to join our publishing team in Washington. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in typesetting and a strong eye for detail. As a Typesetter, you will be responsible for formatting and preparing text, images, and graphics for print or digital publications. You must have excellent knowledge of typography, layout design, and publishing software such as Adobe InDesign. The ability to work quickly and accurately under tight deadlines is essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use publishing software to format and arrange text, images, and graphics
- Ensure accuracy of spelling, grammar, and punctuation
- Adjust spacing, margins, and font styles to ensure consistency throughout the document
- Collaborate with editors and designers to create visually appealing layouts
- Prepare final files for print or digital publication
- Stay updated on industry trends and software advancements related to typesetting
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Typesetter or in a similar role
- Strong understanding of typography and layout design principles
- Proficiency in publishing software such as Adobe InDesign
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others
Preferred:
- Experience working in a publishing environment or with book/magazine layouts
- Knowledge of different file formats for print vs. digital publications
Salary: $1500 per month (negotiable based on experience)
