Head Chef: Mombasa
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to join our team in Mombasa. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations and ensuring the quality and consistency of our food offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan menus and create new dishes based on seasonal availability and customer preferences
- Manage inventory and control food costs
- Train, supervise, and schedule kitchen staff
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and safety in the kitchen
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and excellent customer service
- Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate them into menu planning
- Monitor portion sizes to minimize waste and maximize profits
- Ensure compliance with all health codes and regulations
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Head Chef in a high-volume restaurant or hotel setting
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed
- Passion for creating delicious dishes using fresh, local ingredients
Salary: $1200 per month (negotiable based on experience)
Location: Mombasa, Kenya
Note: This position is open to all applicants but preference will be given to Canadian citizens or permanent residents looking for English-speaking jobs in Mombasa.
