Librarian for Muscat Library in Oman

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Librarian to join our team at the Muscat Library in Oman. As a member of our library staff, you will be responsible for managing and organizing our collection of books, magazines, and other materials. Your main duties will include cataloging new items, assisting patrons with finding resources, and maintaining the overall organization of the library.

Key Responsibilities:
- Catalog new materials into the library's database using the Dewey Decimal System
- Assist patrons in locating resources and providing reference services
- Manage circulation of materials, including checking items in and out
- Maintain the physical organization of the library shelves and displays
- Develop and implement programs and events to promote reading and literacy
- Collaborate with other librarians to select new materials for acquisition
- Keep up-to-date with current trends in literature, technology, and information science

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a library setting
- Familiarity with cataloging systems such as Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress Classification
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong customer service skills with a passion for helping others find information
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other team members

Preferred:
- Experience working with electronic resources, including eBooks and online databases
- Knowledge of Arabic language is a plus but not required

This is a contract position suitable for men who have their own visa. The salary for this position is 1700$ per month.
