Chef de Cuisine
As a Chef de Cuisine at our upscale restaurant in Nairobi, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire kitchen operations and ensuring the highest quality of food is served to our guests. You will work closely with the restaurant manager to create menus, order ingredients, and manage inventory. Your role will also include training and supervising kitchen staff, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations during service hours.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Chef de Cuisine or Executive Chef in a high-end restaurant
- Culinary degree or equivalent certification
- Strong knowledge of African cuisine and ingredients
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and passion for creating delicious dishes
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures
- Ability to manage inventory and control costs
Responsibilities:
- Create menus that showcase the best of African cuisine while also incorporating international influences
- Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating
- Train and supervise kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques, portion control, and sanitation standards
- Work closely with the restaurant manager to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service hours
- Order ingredients from reliable suppliers while keeping an eye on costs
- Manage inventory levels to minimize waste and spoilage
- Ensure that all food safety regulations are followed at all times
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen at all times
