Librarian for International School in Shanghai, China


We are in search of an experienced and highly organized Librarian to join our international school in Shanghai, China. The ideal candidate will have a passion for literature and education, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:
- Manage the school library, including cataloging books, managing loans, and maintaining a welcoming and organized environment
- Collaborate with teachers to select appropriate books and materials for the curriculum
- Develop and implement reading programs to promote literacy among students of all ages
- Conduct research and provide support to students and teachers with their research projects
- Instruct students on proper library etiquette and how to effectively use library resources
- Stay up-to-date with new books, technology, and educational resources relevant to the school's curriculum
- Assist in budget planning and maintain accurate records of library expenses

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- Minimum of 2 years experience working as a librarian in an educational setting
- Strong knowledge of cataloging systems and library software (e.g. Dewey Decimal System)
- Excellent communication skills in English (Chinese language skills are a plus)
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with teachers and students
- Familiarity with educational resources relevant to the International Baccalaureate (IB) program is preferred
- Passion for promoting literacy and instilling a love for reading in students

Salary: $1700/month

Location: Shanghai, China (foreigners welcome)
