Blast Furnace Technician


We are seeking a skilled Blast Furnace Technician to join our team in Nairobi. As a Blast Furnace Technician, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining blast furnaces used for smelting iron ore into molten iron. You will also be responsible for monitoring and adjusting furnace processes to ensure efficient and safe production.

Responsibilities:
- Operate blast furnaces according to established procedures and safety guidelines
- Monitor and maintain furnace equipment, including preheating systems, tuyeres, and refractory linings
- Adjust furnace settings as needed to maintain efficient production levels
- Collect and analyze data from furnace operations to identify potential issues or areas for improvement
- Conduct regular maintenance tasks on furnace equipment, such as replacing worn parts or repairing leaks
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols while working in the blast furnace area

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in metallurgy or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with blast furnaces in an industrial setting
- Strong understanding of furnace operations, including temperature control, gas flow, and slag formation
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, such as blueprints or schematics
- Familiarity with basic maintenance tasks, such as welding or replacing parts on machinery
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment

Salary:
$1000/month (negotiable based on experience)

Contract Type:
Full-time contract position
