Blast Furnace Operator
A blast furnace operator is responsible for operating and maintaining blast furnaces that are used in the production of iron and steel. They work with heavy machinery and equipment to process raw materials, monitor temperatures and pressures, and make adjustments as needed to ensure efficient production. This role requires physical strength, technical knowledge, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Operate blast furnaces according to established procedures
- Monitor equipment and make adjustments to maintain proper temperatures and pressures
- Add raw materials into the furnace as needed for production
- Remove impurities from molten metal using tools such as slag rakes or skimmers
- Inspect equipment for any malfunctions or damage and report any issues to supervisors
- Keep accurate records of production levels, materials used, and equipment maintenance
- Follow all safety protocols and wear necessary protective gear at all times
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- Previous experience working with heavy machinery in a manufacturing setting preferred
- Technical knowledge of blast furnace operations and ability to read gauges and instruments
- Physical strength to lift heavy materials, climb stairs or ladders, and stand for long periods of time
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate record keeping
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment
- Nepali nationality preferred
Salary: $900 per month with potential for overtime pay
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Accommodation: Provided by company
Visa/Travel Expenses: Company will cover costs for visa application and travel expenses.
