Preservation Architect
We are seeking a highly skilled Preservation Architect to join our team in Washington, D.C. As a Preservation Architect, you will be responsible for preserving and restoring historical buildings and structures. This role requires a deep understanding of architectural history, building materials and techniques, and preservation standards and guidelines. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, contractors, and government agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough research on the history of buildings and structures to determine appropriate preservation methods
- Develop preservation plans that adhere to local, state, and federal guidelines
- Collaborate with clients to understand their vision for the project and provide expert recommendations
- Prepare detailed drawings and specifications for preservation projects
- Oversee construction projects to ensure adherence to preservation plans
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and address any issues that may arise
- Work closely with contractors, engineers, and other professionals involved in the project
- Document all aspects of the preservation process for future reference
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or related field
- Minimum of 5 years experience in historic preservation architecture
- Extensive knowledge of architectural history and preservation principles
- Proficient in AutoCAD or similar software
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
Salary: $1700 per month
Location: Washington D.C., United States
