Interpreter (English-Portuguese) in Lisbon, Portugal

As an interpreter, your main responsibility will be to facilitate communication between English and Portuguese speakers. You will be required to accurately and efficiently convey spoken messages from one language to the other, while maintaining cultural sensitivity and professional etiquette. This role requires excellent language skills, as well as strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a liaison between English and Portuguese speakers in various settings, such as meetings, conferences, or events
- Listen carefully to the speaker's message and accurately interpret it into the target language
- Maintain cultural sensitivity and professionalism at all times
- Provide simultaneous or consecutive interpretation depending on the situation
- Use specialized vocabulary and terminology when necessary
- Take notes or use interpreting equipment to aid in the interpretation process
- Ensure confidentiality of all information discussed during interpretation sessions
- Communicate any potential barriers or challenges that may arise during the interpretation process
- Keep up-to-date with industry terminology and practices

Requirements:
- Fluency in both English and Portuguese (written and spoken)
- Proven experience as an interpreter in a professional setting is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of specialized vocabulary related to your field of expertise (e.g. legal, medical, business)
- Excellent listening skills and ability to think quickly on your feet
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals
- Familiarity with interpreting equipment is a plus
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Availability to work full-time during regular business hours

Salary: $1400 per month

Location: Lisbon, Portugal
