Part-time Database Administrator


We are searching for a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator to join our team on a part-time basis in Svalbard. As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our company's databases, ensuring the security, integrity, and performance of the data. You will also be involved in data backup and recovery processes, as well as developing and implementing data management policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain company databases, ensuring data security, integrity, and performance
- Develop and implement data management policies and procedures
- Conduct regular backups of data to prevent loss or corruption
- Monitor database performance to identify and resolve issues
- Troubleshoot database errors and optimize query performance
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth integration of new systems or updates
- Provide technical support to users for database related issues
- Perform data migration between systems when necessary

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field
- Proven work experience as a Database Administrator or similar role
- Strong knowledge of database management systems (SQL Server, MySQL)
- Experience in database design, development, implementation, and maintenance
- Familiarity with data backup and recovery processes
- Understanding of data security principles and best practices
- Ability to troubleshoot database errors and optimize query performance
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members

Preferred Requirements:
- Knowledge of cloud-based databases (AWS Aurora, Microsoft Azure)
- Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica or Talend
- Understanding of programming languages (Java, Python)

Salary: 1500$ per month (based on 20 hours/week)

This is a part-time position without accommodation provided. Applicants must have their own visa that permits them to work in Svalbard. We welcome applicants of any nationality.
