Junior Librarian

The Junior Librarian will assist the Head Librarian in managing the library's collection and services. They will be responsible for organizing and categorizing books, maintaining library systems, and assisting patrons with finding resources. The ideal candidate should have a passion for books and knowledge, as well as strong organizational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the selection and acquisition of new materials for the library's collection
- Organize and catalog books, periodicals, and other materials according to established systems
- Manage circulation services, including checking in/out materials and collecting fines/fees
- Assist patrons with locating resources and providing information on library programs and services
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of library space, including shelves, desks, and computer stations
- Help plan and implement library events, such as author talks or book clubs
- Stay updated on current trends in literature, publishing, and information technology

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Sciences or related field preferred
- Prior experience working in a library environment is a plus
- Familiarity with cataloging systems such as Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress Classification
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact positively with diverse groups of people
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy

Our ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about promoting literacy and learning within the community. They should be able to work independently as well as part of a team. We are open to candidates without prior experience but who have a strong interest in librarianship.

Salary:
$1000 per month (negotiable based on experience)

Location:
Os, Norway - visa sponsorship available for non-Norwegian nationals.
