Preservation Architect
A preservation architect is responsible for preserving and restoring historical buildings and structures. They work closely with clients, contractors, and preservation agencies to ensure that the integrity of a building is maintained while also making necessary updates for modern use. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of architectural history, building materials, and traditional construction techniques. They should also be familiar with relevant preservation laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on the history and architecture of a building or structure
- Assess the current condition of a building and develop plans for restoration or repair
- Collaborate with clients to understand their goals for the preservation project
- Work with contractors to oversee the implementation of restoration plans
- Ensure that all work is in compliance with relevant preservation laws and regulations
- Manage project budgets and timelines
- Document all changes made during the restoration process
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture or historic preservation
- Minimum of 3 years experience in historic preservation or restoration projects
- Strong knowledge of architectural history, building materials, and traditional construction techniques
- Familiarity with relevant preservation laws and regulations
- Excellent project management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with clients, contractors, and preservation agencies
- Attention to detail and ability to document changes made during restoration process
- Biometric passport for international travel
Location: Lisbon (Portugal)
Salary: Starting at $1000 per month (negotiable based on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time contract without accommodation
