Preservation Architect

As a Preservation Architect in Faroe-Islands, you will play a crucial role in preserving the historical and cultural heritage of the country. Your main responsibility will be to plan and oversee the restoration and conservation of historic buildings, monuments, and sites. You will work closely with government agencies, organizations, and private clients to ensure that these structures are maintained in their original state while also making necessary repairs and updates.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in preservation architecture
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations related to historic preservation
- Strong understanding of building materials and techniques used in historic structures
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams including engineers, contractors, and historians

Responsibilities:
- Conduct site visits to assess the condition of historic structures
- Develop plans for restoration or renovation projects while considering historical significance and structural integrity
- Create detailed drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for preservation projects
- Obtain necessary permits from local authorities for work on historic buildings
- Supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications
- Collaborate with engineers and contractors to address structural issues while preserving the historical integrity of the building
- Conduct research on the history of buildings or sites to inform preservation efforts
- Communicate with clients regularly to provide updates on project progress
-Serve as a consultant for government agencies or organizations seeking guidance on historic preservation

Skills:
- Excellent technical drawing skills using software such as AutoCAD or Revit
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to think creatively while adhering to strict preservation guidelines
