Executive Chef


Our busy restaurant in Nairobi is seeking an experienced Executive Chef to join our team. This position is open to candidates from all nationalities, with a preference for Canadians. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience as a chef, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. They must be fluent in English and have the ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. This is a contract position with the opportunity for extension.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Develop and create new menus and dishes while also maintaining existing ones
- Manage inventory and food costs to ensure profitability
- Train and supervise kitchen staff to maintain high-quality standards
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with management to plan special events and promotions
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen at all times
- Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate them into menu planning

Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Executive Chef or similar role
- Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and train staff
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure
- In-depth knowledge of food preparation techniques, ingredients, and flavors
- Ability to create innovative dishes while also adhering to budget constraints
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations
- Fluent in English, knowledge of other languages is a plus
- Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
