Contract Librarian


As a Contract Librarian, you will be responsible for managing and organizing the resources of a library in Dar Kulaib. Your main duties will include cataloging and classifying books, assisting patrons in finding materials, and providing information literacy instruction. You will also be responsible for maintaining the library's collection, ensuring that it meets the needs of its users.

To excel in this role, you should have experience working as a librarian and possess strong organizational and communication skills. A degree in Library Science or a related field is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Catalog and classify books according to established standards
- Assist patrons in locating materials and providing reference services
- Create displays and programs to promote library resources and services
- Provide information literacy instruction to library users
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations to enhance library services
- Maintain an up-to-date collection by regularly reviewing resources and making necessary additions or withdrawals
- Keep accurate records of library acquisitions, circulation data, and patron interactions
- Maintain the physical organization of the library, including shelving materials and maintaining a clean space
- Stay updated on new trends and technologies in librarianship to enhance library services

Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a librarian or in a similar role
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of cataloging standards such as MARC21 or Dewey Decimal Classification System
- Familiarity with reference sources to assist patrons with research inquiries
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Degree in Library Science or related field (preferred but not required)

Salary:
The salary for this position is $1700 per month.
