Executive Chef for Seasonal Restaurant in Funchal, Portugal

We are seeking an experienced Executive Chef to join our team at a seasonal restaurant in the beautiful city of Funchal, Portugal. As the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen and menu creation for our restaurant.

Responsibilities:
- Develop unique and creative menus that showcase local and seasonal ingredients
- Train and manage kitchen staff to ensure high quality dishes and efficient service
- Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed
- Ensure all food safety and sanitation standards are met
- Monitor budgets and control costs to maximize profitability
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth operations and excellent customer service
- Stay updated on industry trends and new techniques to continuously improve menu offerings

Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Executive Chef or similar role in a high-volume restaurant setting
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a team effectively
- In-depth knowledge of culinary techniques, flavors, and ingredients
- Creativity in menu development while also being mindful of budget constraints
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices
- Excellent communication skills with both staff members and customers
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications:
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience/training preferred
- Minimum of 5 years experience working as an Executive Chef or similar role in a fine dining or upscale casual restaurant setting
- Knowledge of Portuguese cuisine is a plus
- Must have own visa/work permit for Portugal
This is a seasonal job with the possibility of extension based on performance. This is also a great opportunity for students looking to gain experience in the culinary industry.

Salary: 1500$ per month (negotiable depending on experience)
