Pastry Chef
A upscale restaurant in Malindi is seeking a skilled and experienced Pastry Chef to join our team. This position requires a creative and passionate individual with a strong background in pastry and dessert preparation. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience working in a high-end restaurant or hotel, with a focus on creating unique and delicious pastries.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and execute pastry and dessert menus according to the restaurant's standards
- Create new and innovative recipes while staying true to traditional techniques
- Order and maintain inventory of all pastry ingredients and supplies
- Train and supervise junior kitchen staff on proper pastry techniques
- Ensure all desserts are presented beautifully and adhering to the restaurant's high standards
- Collaborate with other chefs to create cohesive menus that complement each other's dishes
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry kitchen
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a Pastry Chef in a high-end restaurant or hotel
- Strong knowledge of traditional pastry techniques, as well as current trends in the industry
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Formal culinary training or degree preferred
- Must be fluent in English, additional language skills are an asset
Salary: $1700 per month (negotiable based on experience)
Location: Malindi, Kenya
