Library Assistant - Entry Level (Clairvaux, Africa)
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Library Assistant. This is an entry-level position for someone with a passion for books and promoting literacy in our community. As a Library Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the Librarian in maintaining the library collection, organizing library materials, and providing excellent customer service to our patrons.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the selection, acquisition, cataloging, and processing of new library materials.
- Organize and maintain the library collection according to established standards.
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service to patrons, including checking out materials, answering questions, and assisting with research.
- Plan and implement programs and activities to promote literacy and engage the community.
- Maintain accurate records of library usage statistics.
- Assist with shelving books and keeping the library space clean and organized.
- Stay up-to-date on new book releases and popular titles to make recommendations to patrons.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Passion for books and promoting literacy in the community.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with people of all ages.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Knowledge of library systems or previous experience working in a library is a plus.
