Mason - Svalbard


We are currently hiring a skilled Mason to join our team in Svalbard. As a Mason, you will be responsible for constructing and repairing structures using bricks, stones, and other materials. Your main goal will be to ensure that our buildings are safe, sturdy, and visually appealing.

Responsibilities:
- Read blueprints or drawings to determine the materials needed and the layout of the structure
- Measure and mark surfaces to be covered with materials
- Mix cement, sand, and water to create mortar or grout for filling gaps between bricks or stones
- Lay bricks or stones in a specific pattern using different techniques such as bonding or interlocking
- Cut and shape bricks or stones using hand or power tools
- Install firebricks or refractory tiles in high-temperature areas
- Repair existing structures by replacing damaged bricks or stones
- Clean excess mortar from finished surfaces using water and hand tools

Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Mason in both construction and repair work
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings accurately
- Knowledge of various masonry techniques and materials used in construction
- Physical strength and endurance for lifting heavy materials and working in different weather conditions
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
- Basic math skills for measuring surfaces and calculating material quantities
- Reliable transportation to travel to different job sites

Salary:
We offer a competitive salary of $1300 per month for this full-time position. Benefits such as health insurance, vacation time, and retirement plans may also be included depending on the candidate's qualifications.

Location:
This job is located in Svalbard, an archipelago situated between mainland Norway and the North Pole. Applicants with experience working in cold weather conditions will be preferred.
