Reference Librarian

We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-oriented Reference Librarian to join our team at the Nizwa Public Library. As a Reference Librarian, you will be responsible for providing reference and research assistance to library patrons, recommending resources and materials, and promoting library services and programs. The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in Library Science or Information Science, strong communication skills, and experience working in a library setting. This position is open to all nationalities with proficiency in English.

Responsibilities:
- Provide reference and research assistance to library patrons in person, over the phone, and online
- Assist patrons with locating materials, navigating databases, and using technology
- Recommend resources and materials based on patron needs and interests
- Promote library services and programs through outreach activities and social media
- Participate in collection development by selecting materials for purchase or donation
- Assist with developing instructional materials for library workshops and classes
- Maintain accurate statistics on reference transactions
- Collaborate with other librarians to plan and implement new services or programs

Requirements:
- Master's degree in Library Science or Information Science from an accredited institution
- Strong knowledge of reference resources, including online databases, print materials, and digital collections
- Excellent communication skills in English (Arabic proficiency is a plus)
- Experience providing reference services in a library setting (public library experience preferred)
- Familiarity with emerging technologies used in libraries (e.g. RFID technology)
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a diverse team

Salary: $1400 per month (tax-free) plus benefits.
