Running a Dirghayu Retail Pharmacy involves several key tasks including patent counseling and drug dispensing.

Drug Dispensing:
Receiving and verifying prescriptions: Pharmacists or pharmacy technicians receive prescriptions from the patients or healthcare providers, either in person or eclectically.
Perception Review: Before dispensing medication, the pharmacist reviews the persecution to ensure its validity and accuracy, and is appropriate for the patient`s condition.
Medication preparation: The pharmacy staff prepares the medication according to the prescription, which may involve counting pills, measuring liquids or pancaking medications.
Labelling: Proper labelling of medication is crucial to provide clear intrusions to patients regarding dosage, usage, and potential side effects.
Quality control: Pharmacies follow strict protocols to maintain the quality and safety of dispensed medications.
Patient counselling:
Medication education: Pharmacists or trained staff counsel patients about their medications, expelling how and when to take them, potential side effects and interaction with other drugs or food.
Adherence guidance: Patients may receive advice on the importance of taking medications as prescribed and following up with their healthcare provider regularly.
Lifestyle recommendations: Pharmacists may offer guidance on lifestyle changes, diet, exercise, and other factors that can enhance the effectiveness of the medication.
Answering questions: Patients often have questions or concerns about their medications, and the patient's role is to address these queries and provide accurate information.
Drug Interaction Checks: Pharmacists use computer systems and their expertise to check for potential drug interactions when multiple medications are prescribed to the same patients.

Record–Keeping and Compliance:
Pharmacies must maintain an accurate record of all dispensed medications, including patient information, perception details and rug quantities.
As a chief community pharmacist, I was mainly involved in patient counselling and drug dispensing of the prescriptions and OTC medicine on the counter. My main aim was proper guidance for the rational use of drugs and awareness creating to the people's use of medicine and resistance to antimicrobial drugs for self-medication and irrational uses. I was involved as a chief Community Pharmacist in leisure period (5 hours per day) Drug Dispensing and Patient Counseling at Dirghayu Pharmacy Lagankhel, Lalitpur from May 2001 to December 2004 and owner of this Pharmacy, which was registered in my name at the Department of Drug Administration of Nepal and Nepal Chemist and Druggists Association. I managed all the requirements for the functioning of this pharmacy and three assistance persons were hired to help me smoothly run the pharmacy. My pharmacy was located near PAHS (Patan Academy of Health Sciences) and I hired medical doctors, especially gynaecologists, paediatricians, physicians and MDGP, who were involved in the treatment of patients in my pharmacy and were associated with PAHS. They were available morning and evening times and sometimes called them personally for the treatment of patients when emergencies.
