Bahrain is the smallest Arab state, which unites 33 islands on the western side of the Persian Gulf. Despite its small area, Bahrain is an economically developed kingdom with a high standard of living, a distinct culture, and a low crime rate. The flow of tourists is attracted by the beauty of nature, Arabic cuisine, and the unique culture of the country, and exotic entertainment: falconry, camel riding, and high-speed competitions on fireballs.

Five-star hotels of famous brands have been built for the guests of the kingdom - The Ritz-Carlton, Marriott, Sheraton, Radisson, Kempinski, Crown Plaza, Sofitel, Gulf Hotel, Four Seasons, Intercontinental and Banyan Tree Al Areen. Along with neighboring Dubai and Qatar, tourism is rapidly developing in Bahrain, and new hotels and entertainment complexes are being built every year. Work here is well paid, and accommodation is relatively inexpensive, which attracts specialists from the CIS countries to Bahrain.

To work in Bahrain, waiters, animators, bartenders, hostesses, service personnel, and experienced specialists are constantly required, whom the state willingly accepts from other countries. More than half of the state's labor market is represented by foreigners. The legislative framework of Bahrain obliges employers to sponsor foreign applicants, assist in obtaining a work visa, and conclude an official employment contract with them.

What Is The Bahrain Work Visa For Indians?

Welcome to Bahrain. Bahrain is in the top 5 countries with the best quality of life for expatriates according to the HSBC survey. Visas are required for all visitors to Bahrain, with the exception of GCC passport holders. 

You will need a transit visa if you are making a stopover at the Bahrain airport. But only if the transfer will last more than 8 hours and if you plan to leave the airport transit area. If your stay in the country lasts no more than three days, then transit can be arranged directly at the airport.

There are two types of business visas: business and employment. It is issued single and double entry and allows you to stay in the country for up to 90 days.

A visa at the invitation of relatives or friends legally staying on the territory of the Kingdom, like a tourist visa, is a single entry visa. For such a visa, you will additionally need an invitation from the host country and copies of documents proving the identity of citizens of Bahrain.

Foreigners visiting Bahrain for leisure or short trips are required to obtain a tourist visa.

Travelers should take care of their visas in advance. Travelers who do not have a sponsor in Bahrain can use a travel agency as a sponsor.

Business visas to Bahrain are issued to those who visit this country for business purposes and are employees of a company. As a rule, such visas are issued for a period not exceeding three months.

People who plan to work in Bahrain will need a work visa. In most cases, the employer will take care of obtaining a visa.

Residence Permit in Bahrain

People who are going to work in Bahrain, in addition to a work permit, must obtain a residence permit. It is valid at the same time as the work permit.

Family Residence Permit for Bahrain

People who have obtained a work permit and a residence permit in Bahrain can subsequently obtain a residence permit for their families. This only applies to spouses and their children. Other family members, such as parents, and siblings of an expatriate, cannot qualify for a family visa. However, they can visit Bahrain on a tourist visa.

People who obtain a family residence permit in Bahrain as the spouse of a citizen of the Kingdom can subsequently obtain a work permit.

Required documents:

  •   Copy of husband's passport;

  •   Copy of wife's passport;

  •   Copy of marriage certificate.

All copies of documents must be notarized.

To get married in Bahrain, the spouse must have a salary above a certain level. The spouse's salary must be more than 250 Bahraini dinars (about 600 euros).

Application Process

You can sign up for the submission of documents at the Consulate or the visa center. Consideration of documents at the Consulate takes more time. Before visiting, be sure to contact the staff to find out if an appointment is required.

Do not consider this option for urgent receipt. But there is an opportunity to get a visa with a validity period of 3 months and a stay in the country for 14 days. It is better to contact the Consulate in cases where you need a long-term multiple-entry visa. The term for consideration of documents is from 3 to 10 working days. The visa fee is $26.

A visa to Bahrain for Indians can be issued through visa centers. The staff will help you collect the necessary documents and sign up for a visit to the Consulate. A ready visa can be obtained in 5-7 days, with a standard entry corridor of 1 month and a stay of 14 days. If it is not possible to pick up the documents yourself, you can use the services of courier delivery. The visa fee is $65.

The easiest way is to apply online. To apply for a visa via the Internet, on the Ministry of Interior of BHD website, you must fill out a visa application form and pay a fee. If your request is approved, an email will be sent to you, which you must present at passport control.

The duration of stay on such a visa, as well as on a regular tourist visa, is 14 days. This method can be used if less than 3 or no more than 30 days remain before the trip. The fee is 29 Bahraini dinars (about $77).

Consular fee

The consular fee for issuing a visa at the Embassy or Consulate will be $65, via the Internet - $77, and a visa at the airport will cost about $66. If you want to use the services of visa centers and intermediaries, you will additionally have to pay at least $100.

You do not need to submit biometric data.

Terms of registration

The terms for issuing a visa range from 1 to 10 working days, depending on the method of submission of documents. If you need urgent registration, it is better to do it online. If you have a special permit, you won’t have to wait at all, you can get the necessary documents directly at the Bahrain airport.

Status tracking

You can check the status of Bahrain work visa processing time on the visa center website. You must enter the email address specified during registration, which will receive a letter indicating the current status.

Reasons for rejection

Denial of entry occurs in the following cases:

  • An incomplete set of documents was provided (especially when submitted to the Consulate or Embassy).

  • Provided false information about yourself.

  • Insufficient financial support.

Due to the conflict between Northern Cyprus and the Middle East, there is an opinion that after visiting Cyprus, you can forget about a visa to Bahrain. Failures for this reason for ordinary citizens have not yet been recorded.

Extension

If you need to stay in Bahrain, you can extend your stay at the immigration office for a period of 2 weeks.

Rules for entry and stay in the country

The amount of currency, both local and foreign, allowed for import and export is not limited. Without paying a fee, you can enter 1 liter of alcohol. Jewelry must be declared.

While in the country, behave decently, because Bahrain is a Muslim state. Respect the traditions and customs of the people, and do not violate the requirements of local authorities.
