Nembutal is a sterile sodium pentobarbital solution for intravenous or intramuscular injection. Each ml contains 50 mg sodium pentobarbital dissolved in a solution of propylene glycol 40%, alcohol 10% and water by volume. The pH is lowered to about 9.5 using sodium hydroxide or hydrochloric acid.
