Librarian
Librarians play a crucial role in organizing and managing resources in a library. They are responsible for ensuring that library materials are properly cataloged, easily accessible, and available to the public. As a librarian in Doha, you will work closely with library patrons to help them find the resources they need, whether it be for research or leisure reading.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain library materials such as books, journals, magazines, and electronic resources
- Assist patrons with finding and checking out materials
- Provide research assistance to patrons by helping them navigate databases and other resources
- Develop and implement programs and activities to promote literacy and encourage use of the library
- Collaborate with other librarians and staff to plan events and initiatives
- Keep up-to-date with new technologies and trends in the library field
- Handle administrative tasks such as budgeting, ordering supplies, and maintaining records
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- Minimum of 2 years experience working in a library setting
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills to effectively assist patrons from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Knowledge of cataloging systems such as Dewey Decimal Classification or Library of Congress Classification preferred
