Librarian in Dubai
We are looking for an experienced Librarian to join our team in Dubai. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the library, providing assistance to library patrons, and helping to ensure that the library is a welcoming environment for all.
The ideal candidate should have an advanced degree in Library Science or Information Science and a minimum of two years’ experience working as a librarian. They should also have excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as knowledge of relevant software applications and library automation systems.
Responsibilities:
• Organizing and maintaining the library’s collection of books, periodicals, audio/visual materials, databases, and other resources;
• Assisting patrons with reference inquiries;
• Helping patrons locate materials;
• Assisting with research projects;
• Processing new material acquisitions;
• Creating bibliographies and indexes;
• Recommending material purchases;
• Updating catalog records;
• Developing reader advisory services;
• Overseeing circulation desk activities such as issuing library cards and checking out materials;
• Developing special collections;
• Participating in library outreach programs such as book clubs or storytime programs.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in Library Science or Information Science
• Knowledge of relevant software applications such as automation systems
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
