Library Assistant - Al Buraymi, Oman
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and organized Library Assistant to join our team in Al Buraymi, Oman. As a Library Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the librarian in managing and maintaining the library's collection, providing excellent customer service to library patrons, and performing clerical tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with cataloging and shelving library materials according to established systems
- Maintain the library's organization and cleanliness
- Help patrons locate materials and provide recommendations for reading materials based on their interests
- Process new library memberships and update existing member records
- Manage holds and interlibrary loan requests
- Conduct basic research for patrons using available resources
- Assist with planning and implementing library events and programs for students
- Perform routine tasks such as checking books in/out, collecting fines, and answering phone calls
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field (or currently enrolled in a program)
- Previous experience working in a library setting is preferred
- Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of library databases and systems
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed
This is a contract position offering a competitive salary of 1200$ per month. As an added bonus, we will provide training on biometric passport technology.
