Your Opportunity as the Principal IS Business Analyst – Enterprise Sales Marketing & Analytics
The role of the Principal Business Analyst on the IS Solution Enablement Team (Enterprise Sales Marketing & Analytics) is that of an advisor mentor driver and leader. Recognized as an expert of Business Analysis and key influencer of the JMS Sales/Trade Marketing and Analytics domain the Principal BA will operate with broad latitude in a complex environment to challenge and propose innovative solutions across many functions of the organization. This position may lead a team of BAs or work independently to serve as a liaison for defined projects and activities between the business area and the Information Services (IS) department related to business processes systems and people. Strong project management skills will also be important. This leadership position requires limited guidance strong relationship building a customer service mindset excellent communication skills problem-solving ability critical thinking and a commitment to quality deliverables.

Location: Orrville OH (Close proximity to Cleveland/Akron)

Work Arrangements: Hybrid ~25% in office presence

In this role you will:
Cultivate relationships learn and lead the business:
Builds positive trusting relationships with business customers and develops a deep understanding of what they need.
Fosters strong collaborative relationships with IS team members and engages them in helping to solve business problems.
Understands the data landscape and systems in the business area including security and compliance obligations.
Influences key leaders within business areas with new project generation to ensure strategic alignment and ROI goals are met. May serve as escalation when vision goals and ROI need challenged.
Partners with Architects to define roadmaps that include the advancement and stabilization of business capabilities in the sales/trade marketing and analytics areas and their supporting technical landscape.
Proposes continuous improvement opportunities based on deep cross-functional knowledge.

Drive and deliver project work:
Leads team of BAs on major cross-functional projects and/or defines business requirements based on translation of business needs and gaps collaboratively with the SME leading to Functional Design.
Leads others in the creation of deliverables such as business process flows what’s changing business requirements test plans test scripts cutover plans key learnings and project plans.
Leads and coaches others on how to analyze synthesize and refine elicitation results into requirements and designs.
Regularly presents ideas or suggestions to stakeholders in persuasive terms according to known needs/wants/emotional drivers of the audience.
From an enterprise perspective ensures proposed solutions maximize value are sustainable and reduce duplicative efforts and technical debt.
Serves as an escalation point for functional teams to help solve for complex issues that have large and/or cross-functional impact.
Participates in the RFP process evaluating vendor capabilities for current and future needs.
Influences vendor roadmaps to support Smucker priorities to ensure technical stability and advancement of business capabilities.

Manage medium to large-size projects:
Manages cross-functional projects implementing new technology or capabilities supporting multiple business areas with complex dependencies.
Models the use of standards and methodologies around business process project management and change management.
Effectively manages the project triple constraint (Scope Time and Cost) in balance with risk and quality.

Support and maintain existing things:
Helps teams use operational data to improve stability and performance of their domains.
Demonstrates proficiency in systematic debugging to diagnose all issues within a set of related domains.
Drives cross-domain maintenance efforts.
Champions an appropriate release/version strategy.
Serves as an escalation point and consults teams on complex support matters.

Develop other BA’s:
Helps to advance business analysis within Smucker as a discipline practice and profession. Matures and shares business analysis concepts and practices in keeping with the ever-changing technology and business landscape.
Serves as a leader within the BA Center of Excellence at Smucker (responsible for standardizing work practices building learning curriculums and advocating on behalf of BA needs).
Guides and mentors others to help advance business analysis within Smucker as a discipline practice and profession.
Contributor and/or advisor to the BA learning curriculum.

What we are looking for:
Minimum Requirements:
8+ years of relevant work experience with either a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or specialized training (including on-the-job)
You have experience in supporting cross-functional business domains and system applications
You have an in-depth knowledge of the sales and trade promotion management systems
You have worked in Cloud application development (AWS GCP and/or Azure Cloud)
You have worked with SaaS implementations including complex integration development
You have developed strong team relationships based on trust and collaboration
You have excellent communication skills and are willing to constructively challenge and actively listen while influencing and shaping outcomes
You manage and facilitate successful efficient meetings
You are self-directed proactive and able to define prioritize and execute work independently
You know and can learn technical systems from a business need standpoint
You have experience leading or shaping business process modeling activities
You have experience leading project management activities with a strong understanding of project management methodology and creation of quality project deliverables
You have experience with vendor and solution analysis/selection

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role (not required):
Prior experience in Consumer Packaged Goods Marketing Operations or Information Services
Experience contributing or leading BA professional development (i.e. COE IIBA)
Experience leading or influencing Data Governance processes
